Fayez was my maternal grandfather. His table was always surrounded by people, because he loved welcoming everyone with warmth and generosity. He was always smiling, always happy to have family and friends around him. Bringing people together was one of the things he loved most. We were treated like kings and queens. Every morning, breakfast was a feast, filled with endless choices and prepared with love. My Sundays will always remind me of the typical Lebanese barbecues at his house: music playing in the background, sunshine, delicious food, laughter, and people enjoying each other’s company.

It was THE gathering we couldn't and wouldn't miss. Every evening ended with a good card game, another moment of sharing that he enjoyed so much. Fayez was one of the most generous people I have ever known. If you were lucky enough to be his friend, you were truly lucky. 

His house felt like a little paradise, completely self-sufficient and full of life. We would wake up and walk through the gardens, picking fresh fruit straight from the trees. He gave us the swimming pool that my cousins and I still dream about today, a place where so many of our happiest memories were made. Fayez was from Mehmarch, and through him, that place will always hold a special place in my heart.
